McGregor Teases Return After UFC Confirms Major Title Fights

UFC President Dana White has responded to growing speculation surrounding Conor McGregor’s potential return after revealing a series of blockbuster title fights set for this summer.

During a live stream on his Instagram account, White confirmed that former champions Ilia Topuria and Charles Oliveira will battle for the vacant lightweight title. The lightweight division opens up as Islam Makhachev prepares to vacate his belt in order to challenge newly crowned welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena.

McGregor Reacts Online and Sparks Fan Hype

Not long after the title fights were announced, McGregor took to social media to praise White and hint at his own comeback.

“Wow. Real exciting times again in the UFC. Oh Yes. Bravo, Dana White. Never a doubt,” McGregor posted on X.

He continued on Instagram, tagging Dana White and TKO promotions with messages like:

“Call that big butt nurse”

“Let’s get this show started,” tagging the UFC directly

The posts instantly fueled speculation among fans, who have waited for more than two years to see McGregor back in action.

Dana White Shuts Down Talk of Immediate Return

Despite the public excitement, Dana White made it clear that McGregor is not on the verge of returning. Speaking with journalist Adam Glyn in a video posted to TikTok, White said:

“He’s not fighting any time soon. I haven’t talked to him in a minute. I don’t know.”

The response was brief but decisive, lowering expectations about McGregor stepping back into the Octagon any time soon.

The Timeline of McGregor’s UFC Absence

Conor McGregor last fought at UFC 264 in July 2021 when he lost by first round TKO to Dustin Poirier in their trilogy bout. Since then, the Irish fighter has often teased a return, and was even scheduled to face Michael Chandler in June 2024. That matchup was eventually cancelled due to a toe injury McGregor suffered in training.

Legal Troubles Continue to Cast Doubt

Beyond injuries, legal issues have raised further questions about whether McGregor will ever fight again. Fans continue to debate his future following his recent civil liability ruling for sexual assault related to an incident in Ireland in 2018.

White’s latest comments appear to confirm what many already suspect. For now, Conor McGregor’s UFC future remains uncertain, and a comeback looks increasingly unlikely.
